Hi my name is Erin Louise Eves-Cairns & I am a 3 year old little girl, who has Diplegia Cerebral Palsy. This type of Cerebral Palsy can effect our four limbs, but in me it mainly effects my legs. I am unable to use my legs in the same way most people can & without constant support & help. I am unable to stand or walk without my kay walker, adult support or objects to stand against. My gross motor skills are also delayed in development & I need physio everyday to program my brain & stop my leg muscles from becoming so tight.

Recently my mum & dad were made aware of an operation available in the USA called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) that can improve my life style greatly. The treatment involves sectioning (cutting) of some of the sensory nerve fibres that come from the muscles & enter the spinal cord. This reduces the spacticity in my muscles. The treatment has been available successfully for over 20 yrs at St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri by top Neurosurgen Dr T.S Park & can greatly improve ones quality of life.
I have recently become a successful candidate for the SDR Treatment. However as the treatment is not available here, there is a fee for this life changing operation. Along with my very committed family & great friends we hope we can raise the money through fund raising events, car boots & any kind donations that are truly welcome. We estimate that we need to raise at least £45,000 of which £28,000 is for the operation and £17,000 to cover Erin’s post-operation aftercare (in the USA and UK), any emergencies that may arise, our flights & stay as I will need to be away for 4 weeks before I will be able to come home.
